Review: If You'll Have Me

If You'll Have Me by Eunnie
Publisher Viking Books (Penguin)
Release Date October 17, 2023
Library Purchase For a public library, for sure. Also for my bookshelf!

Synopsis
Momo Gardner is the kind of friend who’s always ready to lend a helping hand. She’s introverted, sensitive, and maybe a little too trusting, but she likes to believe the best in people. PG, on the other hand, is a bit of a lone wolf, despite her reputation for being a flirt and a player. Underneath all that cool mystery, she’s actually quick to smile, and when she falls for someone, she falls hard.
An unexpected meet-cute brings the two together, kicking off the beginning of an awkward yet endearing courtship—but with their drastically different personalities, Momo’s overprotective friend, and PG’s past coming back to haunt her, Momo and PG’s romance is put to the test.

Review
I heard about this book at the Penguin Young Readers Preview and was granted access to an ARC. Thank you Penguin!

This story is absolutely lovely! Momo and PG are the quintessential definition of opposites attract. What I love most about this story is that we get to watch the friendship between Momo and PG grow. They have a "spot" and PG knows about and follows Momo's story that she's writing, Momo meets PG's brother, and they build something true and authentic!

I always struggle a bit with romances foiled by a lack of clear communication but learning about PG's history and understanding some of the confusion that can be caused as two people migrate from friends to something more made it alright.

After reading this book I was all over the internet trying to learn more about Eunnie. I'll be following their writing journey for sure! This graphic novel was awesome!
